Dunlopillo UK Latex. The Original Latex.

In 1929, a team of Dunlop scientists, led by Mr E.A. Murphy, invented Dunlopillo latex foam. As the original inventor of latex, Dunlopillo introduced the first latex mattresses to the world in 1931, which was greeted with great success. Today, Dunlopillo is the authority and leading manufacturer of latex products.

Since its invention, Dunlopillo has made natural latex the key ingredient of our supremely comfortable, healthy sleep systems. Here's why latex is the preferred choice:

    -     Latex is the superior mattress material.

Compared to other mattress materials, latex has higher elasticity. Hence, it conforms to your contours and cradles every curve of your body to provide superior support and comfort, ensuring a perfect sleeping position.

    -     Latex has been proven to provide healthy sleep.

It has been scientifically proven since 1954 by Dr Theo Lammers at the Institute of Hygiene, Gutenberg University that "latex foam is a hygienically irreproachable filling material for mattresses, better than all existing materials and possessing an exceptionally high anti-bacterial activity".

    -     Latex is ideal for people with respiratory problems.

Further work in 1956 by Drs Fuchs & Gronemeyer at the Asthma Clinic, Bad Lippsinge, entitled 'Relief of nightly attack of asthma', concluded, "the advantages of foam mattresses made from latex have been outlined by health and surgical authorities and the bacteriostatic as well as fungus and mite resistant properties of latex material found by Lammers is confirmed".

    -     Latex mattress localises body movement.

A latex mattress is able to support your weight independently yet localise movement to one side of the mattress, allowing you to move freely without disturbing your partner.

    -     Latex ensures immediate mattress recovery.

A latex mattress is also able to support partners of quite different weight and height sharing the same mattress effectively, as it recovers from mattress indentation caused by body weight immediately.

    -     Latex is much more resilient.

Many tests have confirmed that latex is a remarkably resilient material. It does not sag, holding its shape year in, year out for long lasting support.

Latex clearly surpasses other materials in performance.

Latex shows very little absorption of energy (see figure 1), and hence demonstrates good retention of physical properties. It retains superior shape and load-carrying capacity for many years (see figure 2) and exhibits excellent resilience (see figure 3).

Not all latex are made equal.Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex is superior.

Most latex in the world are not Talalay Latex. A highly complex process that requires huge investment cost, the "Talalay" process developed by the Talalay brothers was not perfected until the late 1950's.

Here's why Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex is superior:

    -     Provides unsurpassed support and comfort

The ultimate elastic material - latex, is combined with the perfect support medium - air, in an arrangement of uniform sized, interconnecting and open cells.

    -     Stays cool and is self ventilating

Only Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex has 250,000 interconnecting air cells in every cubic inch, allowing air to flow freely, thus, naturally keeping the mattress fresh, dry and cool.

    -     Makes the healthiest mattress core

All latex possess anti-microbial properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, mould, mildew and dust mites. Research from the University of Leeds (UK), Department of Microbiology confirms that Dunlopillo Talalay Latex is capable of killing 1010 bacteria cells.

    -     Allergy-free and odourless

Not all latex are allergy-free and without unpleasant odours. The open cell nature of Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex allows "total" washing and high temperature drying of the product, i.e. all through the core. The washing process ensures the healthiest sleeping conditions by removing all the protein and other impurities that may give rise to odour or an allergic reaction.

    -     Exceptionally durable

The uniform, open cell structure of our Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex is more stable resulting in an exceptional level of resilience-retention of its original shape. Dunlopillo's latex cushions lasted over 60 years in Fallingwater, a historical building by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Dunlopillo UK Talalay Latex mattress provides the best pressure relief, and therefore comfort and support.
